Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Copco Porto 1-1/2-Quart Brushed Stainless Steel TeakettleCustomer Review: Great Kettle... Summary: 5 Stars
I left my first kettle behind when I moved to a new state and found this little gem in a Ross store. I love the size of it, as I am the only one in the house that really drinks tea. I have read some of the other reviews and found with only a little care, this little kettle has served me well.
As for the warranty instructions that someone brewed with their water...most cooking products suggest you either rinse or wash the product prior to use anyway, seeing as warehouses and factories might have dust or stuff that settles in your product. Just a good idea regardless of whether the item says to do so or not. I found my warranty instructions when I opened my kettle to rinse it. Plus, I wouldn't advocate operating a stove or brewing in the dark...basic safety friends.
The whistle. While not a blaring whistle, like it's larger counterparts, I have not had any issues with this little guy, even when I'm watching tv a couple rooms away. The squeel is amply annoying to convey the message, "come turn me off, I'm boiling in here!" It's not the Pavaratti of whistles, but if I wanted premium sounds from a tea kettle, I would consider brewing in a trumpet or a tuba.
Rusting? I have had no issues. This one is a hard issue, because I used to live in an area that had ALOT of iron in the water and certainly understand when the water rusts things. I was on a well and it was so bad, that even premium silverware rusted! I had to replace my silverware every six months from rust spots. The water even managed to rust my sink! If someone is having issues with rusting, it might not be this kettle, but rather the water in your tap.
For me, this kettle requires little maintenance, but a few washings here and there to get off oil splatter from when I cook. Otherwise, it is great. Love it, love it, love it.
PS: Yes, the lid is a little tight, but I'd rather have it tight than one that falls onto my hands when I pour my boiling water into a teacup.
